Prof.(Dr.) J.C. Das
Dr. Das is the senior most practicing Glaucoma specialist in India with more than 45 years of experience in treating the condition. As an academician and member of various academic societies, he has been engaged in teaching both undergraduates and post-graduates for more than four decades.
During his service career, he was associated with Union Public Service Commission, University Grants Commission, Medical Council of India, National Board of Examination. He is a lifetime member of the Glaucoma Society of India, All India Ophthalmological Society, Delhi Ophthalmological Society, National Society for Control of Blindness, India and Uveitis Society of India. He has held several prestigious posts and received various awards and fellowships through the course of his career.
A pioneering Glaucoma surgeon, Prof. J.C.Das, introduced and popularized Glaucoma Valve surgery in India- which he has been doing for more than 20 years now. This is considered as his greatest contribution to Indian Ophthalmology.

Prof. (Dr.) J.C.Das pursued his post-graduation from AIIMS, Delhi and spent four years working at R.P.Centre before joining Maulana Azad Medical College and Guru Nanak Eye Centre (GNEC) in 1978. He served as head of Glaucoma division at GNEC and as the Director Professor of Ophthalmology before taking voluntary retirement in 2005 to join Shroff Eye Centre (SEC), Delhi as Senior Consultant and Chief of Glaucoma services. He served at SEC for 17 years before voluntarily retiring in August 2021.
